Q&A with Amanda Greer Duenner of Daniels Greer Properties

Daniels Greer Properties is a family-owned boutique commercial real estate firm in Oklahoma leasing over 1.5 million square feet of office space in the area. We got to chat with one of the owners, Amanda Greer Duenner, to hear more about how they got stated, the most common misconception about her job, and most importantly, her favorite spots in Tulsa.

How long have you been in real estate?

26 years

How did Daniels Greer Properties begin? How long have you been around?

My Partner and Father, Bill Daniels and I started the company while I was pregnant with my firstborn in 1998. We were given an alternative by a large prospective client to leave and start our own company in order to secure them as a client. Therefore, we packed up our offices and started our company immediately.

What is unique about Daniels Greer Properties?

We are a boutique commercial real estate firm that practices statewide as well as on a national level. We have only select areas we specialize in such as office, medical, retail and tenant representation. In addition, we offer a specialty that is dying, called customer service.

What is the best part of your job?

Receiving gratitude from my Clients for the work I have done for them.

What is a common misconception about your job?

I believe a common misconception from people, especially my own children, is that real estate deals just fall in my lap and close themselves. While Commercial Real Estate is not rocket science, it does require hustle. I had several years starting out where I was flat broke and I fed myself off of the crappy free snacks at happy hour at restaurants. To this day, I still market and hustle to land new clients and go above and beyond to close them and give my clients the customer service that my competitors often lack.

What does a typical day look like for you?

It varies. I can start my day at 7:00am when needed or not start until 9:00am. Some days end at 4:00pm, others not until 9:00pm. Some weekends when needed for specific clients. I always work through lunch to get more work completed.

When you’re not working, what do you like to do?

Travel, visit art galleries, attend rock concerts, study wine, run, snowboard, attend my daughter’s basketball tournaments as she is gearing up to play college ball and most importantly, spend time with my family.

What is your favorite thing about Tulsa?

It has a charming feel. There is not traffic like there is in a major city and I can get around Tulsa without having to take expressways!

What is your favorite spot in Tulsa?

The Polo Grill, especially since they opened the lounge part. The Gathering Place of course, and my home.

What words do you live by?

Nobody owes YOU anything, you are soley responsible for your own destiny. So, you either pull yourself up by your boot straps and make it or you don’t and you blame everyone else for your failures. As my father has said, “Most people’s problems are self induced.”

What can you not leave home without?

My cell phone of course. I feel naked and lost without it. Shocking that at one time I conducted business without it!
